Our Story

Some love stories start with fireworks—ours started with college parties, Greek life, and a whole lot of serendipity.

We met at Tarleton State University, where Hayden was busy with his fraternity Kappa Delta Rho and I in my sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta. We bumped into each other over the year—at mixers and parties. A friendship bloomed, full of laughs and late-night run-ins. Our story could’ve started then. But the timing wasn’t ready and life, as it does, pulled us in different directions. After graduation, Hayden headed west, drawn to the wild beauty of the Colorado mountains. I found myself in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, soaking up the country sun and days with my grandfather—my greatest treasure—and later beginning my career in San Antonio. We lost touch for a while, caught up in jobs, cities, and life. Then one day... social media worked its magic. A comment turned into a message. A message turned into a conversation. A conversation turned into hours on the phone. Texts, memes, and late-night laughs came flooding back. It felt as if we never skipped a beat and picked right back up as the two kids that last saw each other laughing all night in college.

On New Years Eve, 2020, I hopped on an airplane and for the first time in 10 years we would soon reunite. I remember being so nervous and texting my best friend saying, “what if he doesn’t like me lol”. I, over thinking it of course, was met with a friendly smile, warm hug and flowers as he waited to pick me up from the airport. That night as we waited to ring in the new year with our friends, we shared our first dance in the kitchen that ended with a kiss. I will never forget that first night, but what came after was truly magical. The very next day was not only the start of the new year but also the beginning of the rest of our lives. Hayden knew I loved winter and that being in the snow was one of my favorites, so he packed up and drove me to Rocky Mountain National Park. We hiked around Bear Lake, watched as others ice skated, hiked to frozen waterfalls and had snowball fights on the windy snow-covered mountain trails. It was my own personal fairytale. I knew that day that I never wanted to spend another day without Hayden again. That was just the beginning, for over fourteen months, we nurtured a long-distance relationship, crisscrossing states whenever we could and meeting in new destinations for adventurous trips. In February 2022, we made the leap—each packing up our lives, we rented a moving truck and moved on to a new adventure: life in the beautiful Utah mountains. Living in Utah with my best friend was a journey. A journey that brought us closer together and gave us the most incredible memories. After spending two years in the magical state, we decided it was time to change direction and go back to our Texas roots.

Our hearts have never stopped wandering—but now they wander together. From college friends to mountain movers, our love has only grown stronger and deeper since that first New Year’s Eve kiss. And now, we can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter—with you. So, pack your dancing shoes, save the date, and join us on October 28, 2025, for a day full of love, laughter, and celebration.
